My Leafy Sister and Her Favorite Grass

This post was originally published on Dec 3, 2011

Care for a glass of leafy drink? What about a dip in herbs, or a dash of powdered grass on your sunny-side-up breakfast?  Yes, grass. Just one of my sister's typical days.

I think it's the desire to be healthy and since the idea is going back to basic - I'm in! So "Grass, please?" Lol.πŸ‘

herbal drinks

If you're used to the taste of processed foods, then her ground sage, cinnamon, or thyme sprinkled on your food may not be delicious. Of course, not every one of us likes a slightly "leafy" taste.

However, my sister is right. The diet we choose is our foundation. We may not like the taste of raw or plant-based foods, nor do we have to sacrifice the flavors we love in order to be healthy, but an open mind certainly can prove this to ourselves, too.

The Green Drink

Give her soda or green tea, and she'll pick the oozing steepness of green tea over a cold drink. Or, if she must take the soda, she'll be adding some mint leaves to it.

Oh, well, that's pretty healthy!

Her suggestion of a cup of warm water with a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar first thing of the day helps normalize weight. It's true! But in my case, I add honey. Apple cider is too sour for me.

You too can discover the health benefits of apple cider vinegar with honey. In a nutshell, that is the beauty from within!

Spending days at her home is really like a time to eat grass and drink green. Although in fairness, I've never felt so revived.

"No sugar," imagine that! πŸ˜…But looking forward to the benefits of wellness in less sugar, I would grab every chance of it.

Just fish

"Just fish, no meat," again is another challenge.

But I think this one is easy as I do prefer lots of fish - grilled, fried, steamed, or stewed - whatsoever. By the way, grilled fish with lots of lemon juice is superb, you should try that.

Although the weight here doesn't mean no meat at all, opting for fish most of the time is a lot healthier and better. So no questions. She's right and we all love stewed fish for lunch or grilled tuna for dinner. What about that?

Weekends

Weekends in her house would be a fiesta for the children (and me). We call it the eat-all-you-want days which means you can eat pork, lavish on soda and you can feast on sugar, I bet.

Have you tried lemon and olive oil rubbed on your body? Amazing, how it works wonders on the skin!

Perhaps it feels like being blanded in oil, but it's worth a try. I wouldn't wonder if one day she puts up her perfumed herbs and spices massage business. The right amount of sleep, eight glasses of water, regular exercise, no soda, no junk, no sugar, no meat, but plain earthy on the weekdays makes her a little funny, but honestly, all are healthy.

Now, what is the latest in her?

Spirulina powder and Barley juice are her newest grass collection. That's my sister. My lesson taught? Truly it is never yet late to go back to green solutions and be healthier than we probably are now. So, are you ready to get your share of leaves next time? I'll get mine soon.
